ROTARY SCREENPRINTING
Rotary Screenprinting is a mechanized version of hand screenprinting. This process uses hollow screen-mesh cylinders and squeegee blades located inside the cylinders that force ink onto the wall covering as it travels through the printing press. There is a separate screen for each color. Rotary screenprinting allows for a heavy application of ink and a brilliantly rich look - very similar to hand screen-prints but at a lower cost.
It is often used to apply high-visibility image elements or produce undercoats in applications that will subsequently be printed with flexographic images.
Rotary screen is also the best choice for coarse halftones and specialty inks, including metallic, thermochromic, and electroluminescent formulations. Another specialty of rotary screen is producing tactile images, such as Braille text. Rotary-screened varnishes and coatings are commonly applied to provide extra resistance to chemical and environmental exposure.
